Experience that makes a difference

Originally founded under the name Teknoweb in 2004, the company became TKW Materials in 2014 with a focus on innovation in substrates for the personal hygiene sector, namely nonwovens, which are the absorbent part of napes, wet wipes and sanitary pads.

Today TWK Materials is an accredited consultant to leading international companies, providing expertise on production processes and supplying cutting-edge technology to the sector.

In 2017 TKW Materials became part of the Oerlikon Group.

Oerlikon is a global technology group with a clear mission: to become the leading provider of surface solutions, advanced materials and materials processing.

Oerlikon (SIX: OERL) engineers materials, equipment and surfaces and provides expert services to enable customers to have high-performance products and systems with extended lifespans.

Drawing on its key technological competencies and strong financial foundation, the Group is sustaining mid-term growth by executing three strategic drivers: addressing attractive growth markets, securing structural growth and expanding through targeted mergers and acquisitions.

A leading global technology and engineering Group, headquartered in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, Oerlikon operates its business in two Divisions – Surface Solutions and Polymer Processing Solutions – and has a global footprint of more than 10,600 employees at 179 locations in 37 countries. In 2020, Oerlikon generated CHF 2.3 billion in sales and invested CHF 118 million in R&D.

Within the Oerlikon Group, the nonwoven division provides technology and solutions for industrial nonwoven manufacturing. The portfolio includes turnkey packages for spunbound, meltblown composites and airlaid production, together with state-of-the-art technologies which continue to radically change the landscape of the nonwoven sector. The result is a comprehensive solution whereby a single supplier can provide the full package from design and process consultancy through to implementation and maintenance.
